Tips to Pass your Cleaning Check

Since we are in the middle of cleaning checks for this month, we thought it would be nice to give you some helpful tips to get the job done right the first time so you don't get charged any extra fees.  Here's how we suggest you take care of some common trouble areas in your cleaning:

Mildew in the showers - Tilex works great for getting rid of mildew in the shower.  If you spray it on and let it sit for a few minutes, it should come off pretty easily after soaking.

Ovens - Some apartments have self-cleaning ovens.  It can take a few hours, so be sure to remember to set it to clean in advance.  You don't want it to still be cleaning during your cleaning check!  If your apartment doesn't have a self-cleaning oven, a brand name oven cleaner is best, and fume free is available.  Use Caution - wear eye, skin, and clothing protection, and follow cleaner instructoins carefully.  Only use oven cleaner on the inside of the oven!

Sinks and Tubs - For hard water stains, use Lime-A-Way.  It can really shine up steel appliances!  We
recommend you use Soft Scrub (with bleach), Bon-Ami, or another non-abrasive cleanser designed for sinks or tubs.  DO NOT use Ajax, Comet, or other harsh abrasives.  Doing so could cause you to be charged damage fees.

Toilets - All you need is a name brand toilet cleaner and brush to get the job done right.

Windows - Any name brand window cleaner will do fine.  If you don't have any on hand, rubbing alcohol from your first aid kit can get the job done as well.

If you're stumped about how to get something cleaned properly, just ask!  We want everyone to pass their cleaning checks on the first try!

Happy cleaning everyone!
